NEW TRITON ACADEMY

07   /   16   /   2018

The Triton Academy is a Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) educational program that serves approximately eighty-eight special needs children, specifically those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  The program serves students from all twenty-one (21) school districts located in Ventura County.  The program was formerly located at a facility leased from the Pleasant Valley School District.

During the late summer of 2017, Pleasant Valley School District provided VCOE with notice that it required the facility and planned to reoccupy the site at the end of the school year, on or about June 1, 2018.

VCOE has plans for the construction of a permanent home for the Triton Academy and anticipates receiving hardship funding the State Allocation Board in the very near future.  In the interim, VCOE was required to quickly (within ten months) provide a temporary site to house the Triton Academy during the period of time of funding and construction of the new site.

With the support of MillerCalderon, VCOE identified a site that it owned at 550 Airport Way as the ideal location to temporarily house the program.  The project was designed by Flewelling & Moody, LLP, approved by the Division of the State Architect and constructed in record time.

Utilizing creative project management techniques, MillerCalderon was successful in completing the project and supporting the VCOE in moving the program in time to begin the Triton Summer Program on July 16, 2018.
